It is amazing to think that summer has come and gone already! I look into this coming year with anticipation as I reflect on the summer. This summer brought with it the CSM (center for student mission) mission trip to Chicago. 31 students and 8 leaders ventured to the windy city were we experienced God in fresh ways. We worked with young children in day cares and at Vacation Bible Schools, served in soup kitchens and had the opportunity to spend time directly meeting the needs of those on the street. Many of the students and leaders experienced life impacting change during our time there.
On October 14, students will share stories, pictures and dramas with the church. Mark your calendars! It is exciting to think about what next year's mission trip might bring!
This year, student ministry has undergone some fine tuning. We're moving into the fall season with a renewed sense of "missional" thinking. There were many students on the mission trip who are excited to continue serving in Winnipeg throughout the year. At the conclusion of a junior high youth event last year, many of the students exclaimed that they want to serve at more soup kitchens and continue to find ways to serve God in the city. Both junior and senior high ministries are looking forward to embracing different aspects of service.
Throughout the year we will have teaching times focused on what it means to live holistic lives and how we can experience the "shalom" of God. A renewed sense of service with a purpose, and living our lives in such a way that honors God in all aspects propels us into the fall.
