Our Strategy
We will form a team that is committed, focused and passionate in accomplishing our mission by:
- Each taking on a particular area/role that we will head up and are passionate about
- Committing ourselves to active participation in our respective roles
- Seeking out opportunities to be "built into" through participation with organizations like MBMSI and attending missions seminars like Missionfest etc.
- Involving ourselves in our own missions activity/outreach
We will actively seek out opportunities for Eastview missions involvement by:
- Receiving requests of missions support/involvement and bring forward to the congregation those that we think are appropriate
- Having individual reps on our team scouting out multigenerational opportunities in local, provincially, international for the various Eastview ministries (Children's, Student, Young Adult, Men's, Women's Seniors, etc)
We will engage missions locally, provincially, internationally, and individually by:
- Spreading out our budget over a 25%/20%/45%/10% ratio (local/provincial/international/individual)
- Having individuals on our team be responsible for covering each particular area
- Setting boundaries with Outreach Coordinator so as not to duplicate the local outreach component
We will take on a strategic mission field / people group within each area (local, provincial, international) by:
- Considering which people group fits the support criteria the best:
- through our own investigation
- through consultation with various ministry heads
- through consultation with Council
We will seek to engage missions in both word and deed (60/40%) by:
- Supporting mission outreaches that will embrace both proclamation and service efforts in our congregation
We will engage in missions that are relevant by:
- Partnering with mission organizations that minister in the language, customs and culture of those who are its recipient
We will partner with existing organizations by:
- Receiving and seeking out opportunities from mission organizations (like MBMSI, FLN) and others
- Following up with those opportunities and contacting them
We will empower our mission through prayer by:
- Praying as a missions team (corporate/privately)
- Encouraging the worship leader to pray for the tithes in accomplishing missions
- Bringing missions prayer requests to Eastview's prayer ministry
- Posting prayer requests in bulletin, bulletin board, internet, the Link
We will communicate between our team and the congregation by:
- Using the bulletin, bulletin board, the Link, internet to communicate missions involvement, opportunities, prayer requests etc. We will try to promote and display various missions opportunities, testimonies, etc. through media and presentations in our Sunday morning services.
We will recognize and affirm those in our congregation doing missions by:
- Asking our members to contact us about their missions involvement and their needs.
- Committing 10% of our budget to supporting Eastview individuals
- Sending out letters of recognition semi annually
- Praying for those individuals in missions
We will responsibly distribute funds to support missions by: i. Making our decisions in prayer ii. By carefully taking the various proposals we receive through our "Support Criteria" iii. Bringing a Missions Budget Dispersal Proposal to Council for approval at the end of June to be affirmed by the congregation at the Fall budget meeting We will continually evaluate our direction and progress by: i. Creating an annual report/summary (end of every June) that measures the progress in carrying out our strategy ii. Evaluating annually (end of every June) whether we want to continue supporting particular mission projects iii. Requesting feedback from Executive Council iv. Keeping Eastview Pastoral leadership informed of our progress and decisions and requesting feedback from them on an ongoing basis.
