Getting connected

Are you missing something in your life or better put... someone? Do you feel a need to be connected with others for friendship - for community?

It's no surprise! The Bible tells us that we were created for community - for relationships with God and each other. It is hard-wired into our very DNA!

Life Groups, the foundation of ministry at Eastview, is where this happens and is designed to allow community to be built whenever people gather over common interests, friendships, needs, hobbies, projects, goals, study... well, you get the picture! To do this Life Groups come in 3 flavourful varieties providing you with the opportunity to love, learn, serve, reach out, and grow.

Care Groups are small, mini-communities of people from within the greater Eastview community who desire to become fully committed followers of Jesus Christ. Care Groups gather to demonstrate God's love, apply God's word, participate in effective service, and support one another's efforts to extend Christian faith to the community abroad.

Interest Groups gather over a common interest and draw close as they pursue the same goals.

Serving Groups join hands and joyfully take on tasks in and outside the church.

We invite you into the warmth of these Life (giving) Groups. Check them out at The Connecting Point next to the church library.

Becoming a fully committed follower of Christ

Eastview's overall mission and vision is to lead people to Christ and onto maturity in Him. Life Groups are helping Eastview realize this vision one person at a time within the context of Biblical community.

Biblical community is all about knowing and experiencing God; its loving, caring, and serving; it seeks spiritual authenticity and helps its members develop authentic relationships; it is supportive and forgiving; it enables you to be accountable, and it provides you with a way to reach out to others.

Life Groups are communities that support your will to change your life, and provide you with the means to move forward in your journey to become a fully committed follower of Christ.

Effective learning

Eastview desires to be a church of Life Groups-not just a church with groups.

So that all Life Groups are united in Eastview's overall vision for you to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and achieve maturity in Him, teachings are guided by a structure that is branded by Eastview as "The 5 Gs":

  1. Grace: to extend the saving work of Christ
  2. Growth: to pursue likeness to Christ
  3. Group: to connect with others in significant relationships
  4. Gifts: to serve Christ's body according to spiritual giftedness and passion
  5. Good Stewardship: to honour God with our resources

All Care Groups are led by an appointed leader, and are oriented towards growth. All Care Groups are expected to meet 2-4 times per month; meetings usually take place in the homes of its members.

Effective Life Groups recognize the importance of: priority; participation; respect; confidentiality; accountability; balance; support; advice giving; shared responsibility; leadership development; fun, and outreach to prospective members. Like the uniqueness of each family, all of these qualities may be expressed differently from Life Group to Life Group.
