Eastview Community Church is a suburban church that meets at 315 Maxwell King Drive on the northeast outskirts of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The church was founded in 1990 by a group of 150 people from River East Mennonite Brethren Church and moved into our current building in 1993.

The current lead pastor vacancy resulted from the retirement of our previous pastor, Delbert Enns. We are now seeking to fill the vacant lead pastor position with someone who will lead the church in the next chapter of our mission: To lead people to Christ and on to maturity in Him. We are a member church of the Mennonite Brethren Churches of Manitoba, part of the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.

Eastview Community Church is a multi-staff church employing nine staff members. Our neighbourhood is affluent and the surrounding community is predominantly caucasion with increasing ethnic diversity.

Our average Sunday Service attendance ranges from 300 to 500. We hold two identical contemporary services on Sunday morning at 9:15 and 11:15 a.m., though currently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are holding one service online at 10:15 a.m. On Sunday morning, we offer student ministry, Kids Town, and a nursery program. Eastview operates many weekday ministries for all generations including: adult ministries, worship ministry, life groups, missions, and a prayer ministry. Our children’s ministry runs multi-aged programs on Sunday morning, and holds a VBS program every summer.

Student ministry meets on Friday nights and averages 60-80 students per night with 19 youth leaders. The young adults ministry meets every other Tuesday and holds a variety of events from teaching-focused gatherings to large group activities with 10-25 attendees.

Eastview has an enduring missional focus. We’ve consistently participated in local and international mission trips, supported local and international missionaries, planted a church in downtown Winnipeg, and are supporting a refugee family’s move to Canada.

God has faithfully been at work at Eastview by providing obedient and energetic volunteers and leaders. They serve willingly and faithfully, and continue to grow in their giftings. We regularly see maturing Christ-followers who grew up in our children’s ministry and student ministry, and continue to serve in the body of Eastview.

As a church, we have worked through a number of challenges in our history, including searches for lead pastors and other staff (we have had four lead pastors in our 30 years), purchasing property for a future build, the subsequent selling of that property years later, launching a ministry in downtown Winnipeg called One88, and the recent release of that ministry as a church plant after six years. In the last two years, the discussion regarding women in leadership surfaced, followed by much-needed discussion church-wide about what we believe and what we are about, which aligns with our Denominational statement:  “We invite men and women to exercise leadership on Conference boards, in pastoral staff positions and in our congregations, institutions and agencies. We ask them to minister as gifted, called and affirmed.”  That discussion has led us to our current teaching series on our Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith.

Until recently, our vision was expressed in the following statement: “To become a biblically-functioning community of believers so that Christ’s redemptive purposes can be accomplished in this world.” Today, we are in the process of discerning a new vision statement to sharpen our focus and unite the ministries of our church. We are doing this through studying scripture together, reflecting, praying, repenting, listening to the Spirit of God, and listening to each other. Remuneration for the role of Lead Pastor in accordance with the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba Salary Grid.

It is also expected that the successful candidate will either be or be willing to be credentialed into the Mennonite Brethren Church as per the credentialing process.




The Lead Pastor shall hold the vision of the church before staff and congregation, leading, teaching, motivating, and encouraging each toward its fulfillment.  The Lead Pastor shall mentor staff and lay leaders, encouraging and building a strong unified team.


The Lead Pastor shall be in full agreement with the Eastview Community Church Statement of Faith, The Eastview Core Values, and the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches Confession of Faith.


The Lead Pastor must have the gift of Leadership and Teaching.  Other gifts beneficial to this position are (Romans 12, 1 Cor 12):

The Lead Pastor is accountable to the Church Leadership Board.


The Lead Pastor must be a Spirit-filled Christian living a life of Christian integrity demonstrated through the fruit of the Spirit.  Their words and actions must be consistent.  They should demonstrate many of the character and qualities found in 1 Timothy 3.  This person must have personal and spiritual integrity, be a team player, competent to execute the ministries under their charge in the context of the larger church, and through servant leadership be able to connect with others in a positive manner.  A relational and approachable personality is paramount to success in relating to each generation in the congregation.  It is expected that each staff member will become a member of Eastview Community Church.  If married, it is important that both the pastor and the spouse understand the significance of the Lead Pastor’s role in the ministry team and that the support of the spouse is instrumental to success in ministry.


The Lead Pastor shall lead the Ministry Leadership Team (consisting of the Adult Discipleship Pastor, Worship Pastor, Family Ministries Pastor, Administrative Manager, Youth Pastor), developing long and short-range ministry goals.

·      In collaboration with Elders and Pastors, be responsible for overall leadership of the teaching and preaching ministry (not necessarily most of the pulpit)

·      Role may include the pulpit when the congregation is gathered, classes leading to baptism and membership, spiritual growth, and maturity

·      Teaching is to be biblically-based in accordance with Eastview’s Core Values

·      Pursue ongoing learning and self-development in one or more areas relevant to their role.
