Advent Conspiracy Update

Throughout the Advent/Christmas season, we asked the question "Can Christmas still change things?"  Can we reclaim this season, celebrating in such a way that we honour and reflect the gift God gave to ALL people in his son Jesus?  So we joined this conspiracy, commiting ourselves to resist the distractions of the season, worship God more fully, give more of ourselves, and in doing so, show that the love that came down at Christmas is for all.

We challenged each other to give gifts to those who really need them - and together, we selected Forward House ministries as the place we would give.  The challenge was put out that on Christmas Eve we would look to raise $24,000 which would go to help buy groceries for the men & children at Forward House.

Well, you answered that challenge ... actually, you blew it right out of the water.  Just over $40,000 has been collected in response to the challenge!  We are sticking with our commitment to help pay the grocery bill.  And we are talking with Forward House about other projects!  You have made this season GOOD NEWS of GREAT JOY to ALL PEOPLE!

 

The distribution of these funds is as follows:
 
$8,276 for immediate critical operational needs
 
$24,000 ($2000/month) for food budget
 
$7,809 for specific projects or capital upgrades (such as a new floor in main home)
 

 

As co-conspirators, we celebrate that we have started to reclaim this season, celebrating in such a way that God continues to bring hope and love into people's lives, through us. May the hope of new life - the making of all things new - continue to live in your hearts through this next year!
